Interested in Volunteering?

Our volunteers must be at least 18 years old. In addition, they must pass a background check and sign some forms (below). 

We have multiple volunteer opportunities, not just as a “Pilot” (who pedals the adaptive bikes), or as a “Safety” (who rides on his/her own bicycle to warn of hazards and to control cross traffic), but we also need administrative help.

How to become a Pilot or Safety

We are always looking for new volunteers, so these are the steps needed to be eligible (Click Below):

Fill out our new Liability Waiver/Volunteer Agreement, here: Volunteers’ Waiver & Agreement

We need a background check, but we will no longer ask you to send us your Social Security Number and a copy of your driver’s license.  Instead, we will send you an invitation from Sterling Volunteers to allow you to process the background check yourself.  There is a small charge, but this will be easier for all of us and more secure for you.

Once those three items come through, you will be eligible for training which will start when the weather permits.  For new volunteers, the training will involve three 2-hour training sessions (we have 4 DIFFERENT bikes to learn). You will have to demonstrate competence in handling the bikes (they do not behave like your own bicycle!) and a willingness to put the passenger’s comfort ahead of your own cycling interests.
