How to become a Pilot or Safety:

We are always looking for new volunteers, so these are the steps needed to be eligible:

Step 1: Fill out our new Volunteer Application form, here: Volunteer Application Form

Step 2: Fill out our new Liability Waiver/Volunteer Agreement, here: Volunteers’ Waiver & Agreement

Step 3: We need a background check, but we will no longer ask you to send us your Social Security Number and a copy of your driver's license.  Instead, we will send you an invitation from Sterling Volunteers to allow you to process the background check yourself.  There is a small charge, but this will be easier for all of us and more secure for you.

Once those three items come through, you will be eligible for training which will start when the weather permits.  For new volunteers, the training will involve three 2-hour training sessions (we have 4 DIFFERENT bikes to learn). You will have to demonstrate competence in handling the bikes (they do not behave like your own bicycle!) and a willingness to put the passenger’s comfort ahead of your own cycling interests.
